John Northrup

John is a filmmaker who has a passion for working with the international community. He has shot documentary films and broadcast television programs on location from Amsterdam to Zhengzhou.

John’s Cinematography and Producer credits include documentaries that have celebrated the lives of inspirational figures such as Louis Zamperini—the real-life hero of the best-selling book and motion picture, Unbroken (2014), Ruth Bell Graham—celebrated author and wife of the Rev. Billy Graham (2007), and Tom Monahan of Domino’s Pizza fame (2009).

He has extensive experience as a Senior Producer on nationally televised specials in China, Dominican Republic, Malawi, Myanmar, Portugal, Puerto Rico, South Sudan, Spain, and Thailand featuring inspiring stories of unique people and musical talent.

John produced his first broadcast television feature in 1994 for EO/Netherlands National Television—Jonestown, Guyana, and managed location filming for the American ESPN television series, Sports Figures (2003 – 2004).

John grew up in Puebla, Mexico, returning to the United States to study film and television at Pepperdine University in Malibu and Chapman University in Southern California (1985). Growing up in Mexico, John initially pursued still photography, volunteering with NGO’s to document humanitarian stories.
